Passionate about issues of gender and feminism since the age of 7, she started her site Feminist Frequency in 2009, while she was still at university. The site was created by a woman in her early 20s with a dream to develop the series of videos on the internet which would explore gender representations in games. But, she was victimized by online harassment. But the harassment did not dissuade her. The experience only strengthened her as a feminist journalist. Her notable contributions to the field of feminists are recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and founded Feminist Frequency. This educational nonprofit explores women's representations in pop culture narratives.
